Route Map

Ride Light, Ride Free: Full Van Support

There is no need to carry a heavy backpack or worry about your return route. A dedicated support van will transport your luggage to the finish line in Imabari and follow you at a safe distance, allowing you to focus entirely on cycling.

Premium Fleet for Ultimate Comfort

We offer the GUSTO COBRA(Carbon Road Bike)—an ultra-lightweight road bike featuring an in-house manufactured carbon frame that is second to none in the industry

—as well as

the standard roadbike (TREK DOMANE AL4 Gen4, Shimano105) and

the latest e-bikes(E-Road Bike or E-MTB) that make uphill climbs feel like flat terrain. Our dedicated mechanics will perfectly tune the bike to fit your physique.

We offer a complete one-way rental service, so there is no need to worry about the hassle of returning the bike.

Beyond the "Blue Line": Exclusive Backroads & Cultural Experience

We will guide you not only along the official route (the “Blue Line”) but also through the back roads recommended by us—cyclists who have extensively ridden the area.
You will visit local lemon groves, a shipyard, the “Kazenashi” (Calm) coastal road, beaches, and a museum dedicated to the pirates who once played a major role in the island’s economy.

Commemorative photos and souvenirs, local cuisine too.

Of course, we will visit popular spots along the Shimanami Kaido, with time set aside for taking photos and shopping for souvenirs.
For lunch, we will stop at a restaurant where you can enjoy dishes featuring local island fish or meat. (Please note that the cost of the meal—ranging from approximately 1,000 to 2,000 yen—is at your own expense.)

Ride at Your Own Pace: Flexible Island Stay

Many people may wish to stay overnight on one of the islands along the way and enjoy the trip over two days or more.
In that case, you can leave the route temporarily; your luggage will be delivered to your accommodation later.
Please note that an additional fee applies if you wish to rent a bicycle for the second day or beyond.

Tour Itinerary

Meeting & Departure: STOKEDCYCLE, Mukaishima (Start: 10:00 AM)

Our journey begins at STOKEDCYCLE in Mukaishima. If you are taking a day trip from Osaka or Hiroshima, please ensure you arrive at Onomichi Station by 9:30 AM. Before we hit the road, our professional mechanics will assist you with a perfect bike fitting to ensure ultimate comfort. You will also drop off your luggage for the support van (Limit: 1 suitcase or large bag per person). (Note: Please be on time! If you arrive late, you will forfeit the van luggage transport, and your luggage will be shipped via courier for next-day delivery at your own expense).

Stop 1: Shimanami Beach

After crossing the first bridge, we’ll take our first short break at Shimanami Beach, the most popular and scenic beach along the route. Relax on the pristine white sands and enjoy the breathtaking view of the sparkling ocean and neighboring islands. There’s also a lovely seaside cafe here where you can try a refreshing glass of Hassaku (a local citrus) juice!

Stop 2: Historic Port Town of Setoda

Step back in time as we arrive at Setoda, an atmospheric old port town that retains its medieval streetscape. During our 40-minute stop, you can stroll through the historic streets and explore at your own pace. Highlights include Kosanji Temple, a breathtaking complex filled with diverse art, and a beautifully restored historic merchant house designed by the founder of the luxury Aman Resorts.

Stop 3: Tatara Shimanami Park & Lunch (38km)

We will stop for lunch at a restaurant offering spectacular views of the Tatara Bridge, widely considered the most elegant bridge on the Shimanami Kaido. At the entrance, you’ll be greeted by a large live fish tank showcasing local catches. We highly recommend the local seafood specialties, such as the Hamo (pike conger) Tempura Rice Bowl or the Shimanami Tai (sea bream) Sushi Set. If you prefer non-seafood options, classic dishes like Japanese curry and Udon noodles are also available. After lunch, explore the souvenir shop—it boasts the best selection of cycling gear on the entire route! (Note: Lunch is at your own expense).

Stop 4: Murakami Suigun (Pirate) Museum

Did you know that the Shimanami Kaido was ruled by pirates—seafaring Samurai—until 400 years ago? The Murakami Suigun, armed with Japanese swords and masterful navigation skills, were so formidable they even defeated China, Korea and Japan’s regular navy. We will visit the museum dedicated to their fascinating history. From here, you can also view the small islands that once served as their fortresses. If you’re feeling peckish, try the delicious Onigiri (rice balls), said to be the very same snack these legendary pirates ate! (Museum admission fee is included in the tour).

Stop 5: Kurushima-Kaikyo Bridge & SHIMANAMI Monument

We will cross the magnificent Kurushima-Kaikyo Bridge, a massive suspension bridge spanning 4km. Riding at an exhilarating height of 65 meters above the sea (equivalent to a 22-story building!), you will be treated to unparalleled, breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean and islands. After conquering the bridge, we will stop at a park to take a commemorative photo in front of the iconic “SHIMANAMI” monument.

Stop 6: Finish at Imabari Station (75km - 80km)

Depending on the group’s time and remaining stamina, we will either take the direct 75km route or add a scenic bonus ride past the beautiful moats of Imabari Castle (80km in total) before finishing at Imabari Station. Here, we will collect your rental bikes and hand back your luggage.

Post-Ride Refresh & Access: The last trains heading to major cities like Osaka and Hiroshima depart relatively late (around 8:09 PM). You have two great options nearby to refresh:

  1. Quick Shower: A cycling station right in front of the station offering showers (approx. 500 JPY) and towels. (Only 2 shower rooms available).

  2. Relaxing Bath (Super Sento): Just 100 meters from the station is a fantastic Japanese public bathhouse complex complete with a restaurant. Highly recommended!
